In this post, we travel to Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand with our adventurous colleague, Jonathan as he uncover these historic cities.
Day 1: Singapore – Chiang Mai
Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, proceed with the city tour to visit the Three King Monument, City Moat & Wat Chedi Luang.
At night, tuck in to the sumptuous Khantoke Dinner, Chiang Mai’s signature Northern meal as the Lanna-Style performance keep you entertained. The Northern Khantoke dinner consists of an enticing array of small dishes presented on an individual serving.
Day 2: Chiang Mai
After breakfast, visit the Elephant Camp (Elephant School). Learn how the giant elephants are trained to help the locals transport timbers and logs. Take an exclusive ride on the elephant to tour the open plains, bamboo rafting and ox-cart ride.
Thereafter, visit the Hill-Tribe Village of Longneck Karens and Chiang Mai’s famous Home Industries where exquisite umbrellas, Thai silks, silverwares, wooden sculptures and precious stones are produced. After dinner, experience releasing of Water Lantern with your family.
Day 3: Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai
After breakfast, en-route to Chiang Rai, visit Singha Park that is situated 450m above the sea level and spans over 12.8km. Immerse in the beautiful scenery of the mountains, tea plantations and colourful blooming flowers.
Next, visit Wat Rong Khun, one of the seven wonders in Thailand. The temple is a modern architecture and a lifetime project of artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. It is a fine blend of traditional Buddhist art with contemporary theme that is almost entirely white.
Afterward, proceed to Mae Sai, a small city in the far northern part of Thailand bordering Myanmar. The two nations are separated by Mae Sai River and linked by a bridge. There will be an optional tour to Myanmar to take a Tuk Tuk to visit Shuedagon Pagoda Temple and duty free shops.
Finally, proceed to Golden Triangle, the border area of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. There will be an optional cruising tour along the Mekong River to visit Doum Sao Market on Laos Island. Spend the night in Chiang Rai.
Day 4: Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai
After breakfast, en-route to Chiang Mai, visit Mae Kajan Hot Spring and Doi Suthep Temple. The temple is 1,022m high above sea level. At the top, enjoy a bird’s eye view of the beautiful Chiang Mai City.
Next, proceed to Royal Flora Ratchapreuk where more than 2.5 million trees of 2,200 species of tropical plants and flowers are presented to the world in exhibition. Before dinner, experience Chiang Mai Art in Paradise, where more than 130 illusion paintings are waiting to blow your mind away.
Day 5: Chiang Mai – Singapore
After breakfast, free at leisure until transfer to the airport for the flight back to Singapore.
